What happens to defective vehicles (lemons) after they are repurchased by a manufacturer?

When defective vehicles are repurchased by the manufacturer under South Carolina's Lemon Law, they can later be resold. When they are resold, the consumer must be notified that the car was a lemon and the manufacturer must give a one year/12,000 mile warranty that specifically covers the repaired defect. The law, however, does not specify that the written notice must be on the vehicle's title.

During an interview with WCBD TV 2, Mr. Futeral gave some tips to consumers about how to protect themselves from buying a repurchased lemon without notice.
