Charleston lawyer Kelsey Gilmore-Futeral practices family law in the counties of Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester. Originally from South Dakota, she came to Charleston to be the Captain of the College of Charleston’s Equestrian Team. After graduating with honors, Mrs. Futeral attended the Charleston School of Law where she also graduated with honors.

As a Charleston lawyer, Kelsey Gilmore-Futeral focuses on family law including child custody and visitation, child support, legal separation, and other family court matters. She is also a guardian ad litem in South Carolina’s family courts and serves as a guardian in private custody cases and in cases involving the Department of Social Services. She also served as a part-time attorney for Charleston County’s Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) program.

Charleston Lawyer Committed to Animal Welfare

In addition to being a Charleston attorney, Kelsey Gilmore-Futeral supports the humane treatment of and rights for animals. In law school, she was a founder and a director of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund for South Carolina. Currently, she is the Secretary for Therapy Dogs, Inc. (TD, Inc). TD, Inc. is a national organization that supports over 12,000 handler/dog teams who volunteer in animal-assisted activities such as visits to hospitals, special needs centers, schools, and nursing homes. When she is not busy as a Charleston lawyer, she and her husband, Stephan Futeral, both volunteer and regularly visit local nursing homes and attend special events with their registered therapy dogs.
